Two-Floor Marketplace Contains Shopping and Food Accessories

The Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Market set contains more than 30 accessories, including a shopping cart, molded plastic shopping bags that fit neatly into the cart, and a variety of tiny play food, including both desserts and healthier items. This set also includes small pieces of paper money, credit cards, and letters to mail. Unfortunately, the small pieces can be easily lost and may be a choking hazard for children under age three. Our testers wish the set would have included a place to store all the small accessories.

The market also includes a cash register and a small table and chairs, sized to fit Strawberry Shortcake (included) and her friends (sold separately). The cash register has a drawer that opens with a ding, and Strawberry Shortcake's voice speaks cheerily to the customer with the press of a button.

Bake Shop Includes To-Go Window and Cake that "Rises"

The market also contains a bake shop with a window and counter facing the outside so customers can order items "to go." Your child will enjoy playing with the small oven in the bake shop, which contains a removable cake which "rises" when you open the oven door. However, our testers found it took a few tries to get the cake to rise in the oven properly. (Hint: the cake has to be in all the way when you close the oven door.)

Your child will enjoy creating a realistic grocery shopping experience with the Strawberry Shortcake doll, putting food in her cart, paying with cash or credit, mailing letters, and enjoying tasty pastries in the bake shop. The doll, with moveable arms and legs, has a pleasant, strawberry scent, and wears a cute dress and hat. Our testers, however, wish a second doll had been included, as Strawberry Shortcake has no one to shop or eat with.

Constructed from durable plastic, the marketplace is brightly colored and also scented like strawberries. Those sensitive to fragrance may find the scent slightly irritating.
